Start your own child care centre – apply now for Ngwana Pele (Child First) Project

Have you successfully completed an ECD course at Siyabonga Africa? Are you passionate about running your own ECD Centre and uplifting children in your community? We are calling on all Siyabonga Africa’s previous ECD students to apply for an opportunity to participate in the Ngwana Pele (Child First) Project to run their own ECD Centre.

This is an exciting opportunity for ten aspiring ECD owners to to generate income and provide quality care to children between the ages of 0 and 5.

There are currently over 1.7 million these children living in Gauteng. More than half are deemed to be poor. Their chances of receiving the proper emotional
and educational development in their formative years are slim. They are left in the care of unskilled and ill-equipped mothers or caregivers, in environments that are not conducive to healthy growth and enhancement. Poor early childhood development is directly linked to high school drop out levels, resulting in unemployment, numerous social ills and an unending cycle of poverty.

Siyabonga Africa is launching a 12-month initiative to train, equip and mentor ten unemployed women; empowering them with skills, knowledge, tools and support to run their own, income-generating, ECD (Day Mother) centres from home. Not only will they have an opportunity to improve their own lives, but they will be helping young children to reach their full potential through proper foundational development.

APPLICATIONS CLOSE 7 JUNE 2021.

About the project

The project will commence in June 2021 and continue for a period of 12 months. This is a partnership programme and it requires all parties to be fully involved and dedicated for the entire 12 months – no absenteeism, no excuses.

Successful candidates will take part in courses and workshops relating to Early Childhood Development. The training will include Home Vegetable Gardening Training and a Basic Entrepreneurial course. They will be issued with tasks that need to be completed and implemented at their ECD within an agreed period. They will receive a starter pack which will enable them to start operating their ECD Centres.

Mentorship, Monitoring and Evaluation. Successful candidates will be linked with a mentor for further training and support purposes. The mentor will conduct site visits and issue tasks that will need to be completed and implemented at their ECD within an agreed period. Incentives will be given (such as teaching tools and materials) based on each candidate’s participation in the programme and tasks completed.

At the end of the programme an awards ceremony will be held to celebrate the journey, successes and learning of the programme.
