This Christmas – give the gift that keeps giving

food gardening

Here’s the perfect way to spread the festive feels to someone who might otherwise go hungry.

Give food … give hope … give self-reliance – by sponsoring organic food gardening training at Siyabonga Africa.

Unlike a food parcel, your gift of skill and knowledge lasts forever. It really is the gift that keeps on giving. And if you give it now, you’ll make it possible for an unemployed mother to feed her family all through the coming year!

Training takes place right here in our own thriving organic food garden … giving trainees the inspiration and belief that food security is within their reach. They learn everything they need to successfully grow their own food at home – from soil preparation and building a compost pile, to propagating seedlings, pest control and crop rotation.

And once they’ve completed the course, they go home with a starter kit of seeds – pumpkin, spinach, beans, carrots, beetroot green peppers and more. Fast-growing veggies like spinach produce a bountiful harvest is just a few weeks. And, by selling surplus to neighbours, a successful food gardener can earn enough to buy other food staples – bread, milk, sugar and even a little meat.

Every R1,000 you give puts another person on the path to food security. So, please will you give the gift that keeps giving this Christmas?
