Don’t just remember his legacy – live it!
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela
At Siyabonga Africa, we believe in this with all our hearts. We see it every day in the eyes of our students – young people determined to rise above poverty and hardship, ready to change their world through learning and hard work.
But they can’t do it alone.
This Mandela Day, we’re calling on you – our valued partners and supporters – to take action in a way that’s meaningful to you. Whether you give your time, skills, goods, or funding, every contribution brings us one step closer to unlocking potential and creating lasting impact.
Our classrooms are functional, but cold and uninspiring. With your help, we want to transform them into warm, welcoming spaces that spark creativity and learning – especially our Reception area, IT Centre and Fashion Design classroom. You can contribute materials, volunteer your time, offer design ideas or even sponsor an entire classroom revamp.
At the same time, we’re collecting non-perishable food and toiletry items to support our students. Nutritious snacks like dried fruit, peanuts and juice boxes, and essentials like sanitary towels and soap, make a world of difference to young people trying to focus on their future instead of their hunger.
You could also share your skills by running a workplace readiness session – helping students build confidence in areas like communication, time management, and teamwork.
If you prefer to give financially, your support will help fund our Fashion Design and Early Childhood Development training programmes – where 30 students are already waiting eagerly to begin. Or contribute to our solar project, helping us run our offices and classrooms more sustainably.
Host a cake sale. Challenge your colleagues to a fundraiser. Donate. Whatever you choose to do, big or small, your action has impact. You’re not just donating items or time – you’re investing in education, dignity, and a better future.
This Mandela Day, let’s do more than 67 minutes. Let’s change lives.
