Imagine being so determined to succeed that you get up before dawn to bake and sell homemade cakes … just to earn enough to pay for your transport!
That’s what 31-year-old Nqobile does.
She’s set on completing her Early Childhood Development (ECD) training here at Siyabonga Africa, so she can open her own day care centre. As a mother herself, she knows the importance of affordable, safe child care in any community. Without it, working moms would never know a minute’s peace of mind.
But Nqobile still has three modules to complete before she can claim her qualification. And at R2 800 per module, it’s simply out of reach … no matter how many cakes she bakes and sells.
Like most women, she has to juggle her responsibilities as a mother, student, volunteer and entrepreneur. Her life isn’t easy. But her passion for learning, and her commitment to making a difference, is unwavering.
That’s why I’m hoping that you – and other caring Siyabonga AfriCANS like you – will be moved to make a special Women’s Day donation towards her training.
You’ll not only empower one woman to realise her dream. Think how many children will pass through her care in the years to come … each one shaped and inspired by her love, care and teaching! If you can still remember a favourite teacher from your childhood, you’ll know how powerful this is.
So please will you make your contribution online right now?
I have no doubt that Nqobile will make the most of this opportunity … if you will help her grasp it. And if you feel moved to give more, we’ll use it to start another young woman on the path to a successful career in Early Childhood Development.
Together, we can get South Africa working!
