If there’s one thing all South Africans agree on, it’s that we desperately need more jobs. Job creation is always top of the politicians’ promises at election time. But the truth is, government cannot create jobs, especially when the economy isn’t growing.
Businesses create jobs.
Businesses that are expanding, or new businesses starting up.
That’s why Siyabonga Africa provides training
that enables unemployed people to start their own small business
or create their own jobs.
We teach them to weld, sew, bake, and grow vegetables. We run accredited courses on early childhood development for women who want to start their own small creches. We teach people basic computer skills, marketing and business management. All geared to helping people escape the cycle of poverty and build a better future for themselves and their families.
But training costs money. And there’s the catch. Because people who don’t have jobs don’t have money. They have the enthusiasm, ability and willingness to work hard. But without that first small ‘hand up’, they can’t even begin.
So we’re turning to others … people who have the security of a salary at the end of the month, and possibly even a year end bonus.
If you’re lucky enough to have a job right now, please consider helping someone else secure the dignity of work,
by contributing towards their training this Christmas?
Give the gift of a job by making your donation online now.
Unlike a hand-out, your gift of skill and knowledge lasts forever. It really is the gift that keeps on giving. And if you give it now, you’ll make it possible for a desperate unemployed young person to start the new year with training that will change their lives.
Training takes place right here in our own bakery, egg farm, food garden, sewing and computer rooms. And all trainees are carefully screened to make sure they have the right ‘can and will’ attitude to turn this opportunity into their own personal path out of poverty. So you know your donation will make a difference.
And because it’s Christmas, if you donate R1000 or more – or double your usual donation – you’ll stand to win a delicious biscuit hamper from our own Bread & Butter Bakery.
So far this year, we’ve helped over 900 people with training, business support and emergency food services – not only in Gauteng, but KZN and North West Province too. None of this would be possible without the help of our partners and donors. Please help keep these services going in 2025.
May you and your loved ones enjoy a blessed Christmas, made more joyful by the knowledge that you’ve given someone else hope of a better future.
